Cybersecurity Engineer II

POSITION: Cybersecurity Engineer II 

LOCATION: NSWCDD DNA, Virginia Beach, VA 

STATUS: Contingent on contract award 

CLEARANCE: Active Secret Required


DESCRIPTION:

AABLE LLC is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer II to provide intermediate-level cybersecurity engineering support with responsibility for secure configuration, vulnerability assessment, system hardening, and remediation across mission and enterprise systems. This role implements DISA STIGs, performs ACAS-based analysis, and applies RMF security controls to sustain and improve security posture throughout the system lifecycle. The Cybersecurity Engineer II also contributes to RMF documentation, supports compliance validation, and serves as a technical resource in the execution of cybersecurity engineering activities. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

-  Implement DISA STIGs and apply secure configuration baselines for Windows and Linux operating systems.

- Conduct and interpret ACAS-based vulnerability assessments and document findings for remediation tracking.

- Analyze security findings and remediate vulnerabilities through patching, configuration updates, and corrective engineering actions.

- Apply and enforce DoD and federal cybersecurity policy and security management directives to ensure compliant system operation.

- Support RMF lifecycle activities by contributing to technical artifacts, compliance evidence, and security documentation.

- Sustain and improve system security posture through continuous monitoring, hardening, and lifecycle configuration control.

- Perform root cause analysis on recurring vulnerabilities and recommend preventive and compensating controls.

- Serve as a technical resource to junior cybersecurity personnel and contribute to engineering rigor in secure lifecycle operations.


REQUIRED SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS:

-  Bachelor of Science (BS) in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline, and a minimum of five (5) years of relevant cybersecurity experience.

-  High School Diploma or GEDplus ten (10) years of relevant cybersecurity experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree requirement.

-  Meet DoD 8570.01-M baseline certification requirements at a minimum of IAT Level II (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+, GSEC, etc.).

-  Eligible for IT Level II designation in accordance with DoD cybersecurity workforce qualification standards.
