DESCRIPTION:
AABLE LLC is seeking a Senior Cloud & Kubernetes Engineer to support, optimize, and secure self-managed Kubernetes RHEL servers hosted on a SIPRNet VMware platform in Azure. This role focuses on automation, security, Linux administration, and operational efficiency to ensure secure, scalable, and compliant mission-critical systems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain and optimize Kubernetes clusters on SIPRNet (VMware & Azure) running on RHEL servers.
- Manage and secure RHEL environments for Kubernetes clusters and workloads.
- Automate deployments using Terraform, Ansible, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Ensure compliance with STIGs, SCCA, RBAC, IAM policies, and network segmentation.
- Monitor and troubleshoot Kubernetes, RHEL, and cloud infrastructure issues.
- Enhance CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, GitLab, and Nexus.
- Implement security best practices, including Zero Trust Architecture and vulnerability scanning.
- Optimize system performance using Elastic/Kibana/Beats and Azure Monitor.
- Collaborate with DevSecOps, security, and operations teams to enhance system reliability and security.
REQUIRED SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience managing self-managed Kubernetes clusters.
- Proficiency in RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) system administration.
- Strong knowledge of Kubernetes security, networking, and RBAC.
- Expertise in Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible).
- Hands-on experience with Jenkins, GitLab, and Nexus.
- Familiarity with DoD security frameworks (STIGs, FedRAMP, SCCA).
- Scripting skills in Bash, PowerShell, or Python.
- Excellent and proven ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) effectively with customer / sponsor stakeholders and senior/executive leadership in government and industry.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with RHEL STIG compliance and security hardening.
- Securing Kubernetes environments, including network policies and encryption.
- Cost optimization strategies for cloud and on-premise environments.
- Knowledge of hybrid cloud integrations between VMware and Azure SIPR environments.
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator and/or Microsoft Certified: Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) Engineer Associate
- Experience working in a dynamic, schedule constrained, complex security environment.
- Experience coordinating operations across multiple organizational boundaries.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and SharePoint).
Required Security Clearance: Active Secret Clearance, U.S. Citizenship, Onsite work at Fort Meade, MD.
